Born in Los Angeles, CA. educated in Los Angeles and Pasadena City College. Writing in verse forms that interested composers, he be-gan collaborations with Virgil Thomson (opera, Lord Byron), Ned Rorem (Song Cycle), Gerhard Samuel (monoDrama, the Relativity of Icarus, now a ballet by the Joffrey Company), and wrote text and scenario for a new ballet for the Joffrey, Orpheus Times Light2, also a Place for Peace with Virgil Thompson. New adaptation of mono-Drama Lelio (Berlioz) premiered at Hollywood Bowl by Los Angeles Philharmonic; new concert adaptation of egmont (Goethe-Beethoven), Los Angeles Music Pavilion and Carnegie Hall. Reci-pient: Rockefeller Foundation Grant; Ford Foun-dation grant; Koussevitzky Grant; commissions from the Metropolitan Opera, Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles Philharmonic (for concert adaptation of Dramatic works Lelio and egmont), San Francisco Chamber Symphony (for two monoDramas for chamber orchestra and voice).
