Born in Brooklyn, NY. attended Brooklyn College B.A.; Atelier Leger, Paris; Academie de Ia Grande Chaumiere, Paris. Mr. Lawrence is best known for his irreverent and outrageous character creation, "the Old Philosopher." His major acting credits on the legitimate stage in-clude acclaimed roles in Bells are Ringing, the Threepenny Opera and Sherry. He has done many TV talk shows. among the people that he has written for are Victor Borge, Louis Nye, Carl Reiner, Jack e. Leonard, Sid Caesar, and Leo Durocher. He can be seen on the movie screen in act of Love and in the Night they Raided Min-sky's. He wrote the French film the Ladies and the Men, consisting of four Maupassant short stories and a series of twenty-five comedy shorts for Paramount Pictures as well as being a contributor to esquire and Mad magazines. Mr. Lawrence is also an accomplished painter, having studied under Fernand Leger. Mr. Lawrence paints under the name Lawrence eisler and has taught acting, with emphasis on comedy. Recipient: Mystery Writers of America award.
