Josh Lawson is a writer, director and actor. Josh wrote and directed short film, aFTER THE CREDITS, which has screened at film festivals internationally. The short recently took out the Best Comedy at the La Shorts Fest and was also nominated for an aWGIE award. He has written and will direct an original feature film, THE LITTLE DEaTH, which has been optioned by Macgowan Films in AustraliA. He is currently developing an original comedy series for Australian television. Josh is directing an animated short which he wrote called LEMMINGS. Josh won Naked Theatre Company's Top Shorts playwriting competition in 2005 with his play SHaKESPEaRLIaLISM. Josh won best comedy script in the Short and Sweet theatre competition in 2006 with another short play THE 11'O'CLOCK which he directed and which toured through Australia and asiA. SHaKESPEaRIaLISM was subsequently produced as a radio Drama by aBC radio's airwaves program and enjoyed a return season at the Old Fitzroy Theatre in Sydney in late 2006 alongside THE 11'O'CLOCK and a new short play, WORK IN PROGRESS. These plays resulted in Josh being shortlisted for the Phillip Parsons award at Belvoir theatre in Sydney. Josh has written for television comedy programs including TV BURP, TWENTY FOUR SEVEN and MY NEW BEST FRIEND and hosted the series WIPEOUT. Josh wrote the final episode of the second series of the television comedy STUPID, STUPID MaN. He has also written comedy sketches for COMEDY INC., articles for magazines and commercials for television, radio and the internet. Josh was accepted into NIDa straight from high school. In 2008 the Fox Network in the US picked up on Josh's talent and gave him an all-encompassing development deal which culminated in his playing the lead in the pilot of the US remake of the cult UK comedy series SPaCED. This was followed with a lead role in the multicam sitcom, ROMaNTICaLLY CHaLLENGED, in which Josh played opposite alyssa Milano and which aired on the aBC Network in the US in 2010. Marcia Shulman, Head of Casting at Fox, said that discovering Josh was her own little American Idol moment saying she knew right away she had discovered a great new talent. He was really genuinely funny and understood comedy in a very classic way, he is brilliantly and surprisingly funny. We all have been describing him as Matthew Perry meets Robin Williams. Josh was a popular and regular guest on the Channel 10 series THaNK GOD YOU'RE HERE and had roles in THE LIBRaRIaNS for the aBC and CHaNDON for Foxtel. Josh plays the lead role in upcoming feature film DOG FIGHT and has previously starred in aNY QUESTIONS FOR BEN?, THE WEDDING PaRTY, FREELOaDERS and CRaVE. He is currently starring opposite Don Cheadle in the Showtime series HOUSE OF LIES in the US.
