Pete Lawson was born in Malawi, grew up in Birmingham, worked in Paris, and studied English Literature and Drama at Sheffield University. after working in young people's Theatre in London, aberdeen, Moscow, and Romania, Pete co-founded the Steam Factory before becoming Arts Council Writer in Residence for Gay Sweatshop. He has written two plays for BBC Radio 4, Melt and the Deep end, and for television he wrote the one-off ITV comedy, Sweet, followed by regular episodes of London Bridge and Casualty. In 1995, Pete was runner up for the inaugural Dennis Potter award. His original series, Being April, premiered on primetime BBC1 in 2002, topping the ratings. It has since sold across the world. His single television play Drive was shown on BBC1 in 2004 and won a Royal Television Society award. He currently writes for eastenders.

Synopsis:

Big Little Heart

Impostor, The

Synopsis:
a contemporary take on Moliere's satire Tartuffe, set in the world of New Labour spin doctors and small town political ambition. When local businessman Orgon decides to run for mayor, he needs a man to show him the way. Tartuffe is soon not only running his campaign, but he's moved into his house and is running his life - as well as trying his hardest to jump into bed with his wife. Written in rhyming couplets.

People Like Us

an exploration of issues surrounding women's mental health and the effect on their families, following the story of a woman whose deepening depression culminates in a breakdown, before she finds a fellow survivor and through that a path to recovery.

Sssh!

Synopsis:
When three deaf children find an old-fashioned hearing aid buried in the garden, they discover they can tap into the memories trapped inside. Slowly, they piece together the story of the hearing aid's owner, until her life crashes Dramatically into the present. a story of exclusion, inclusion, communication, friendship and forgiveness, fully accessible to both deaf and hearing audiences.

Swanflight

a contemporary retelling of the Ugly Duckling.
