Curing Room, The
Synopsis:
Spring 1944 - seven Soviet soldiers have been captured by the Nazis, stripped naked and abandoned in the locked empty cellar of a monastery in southern Poland. Deprived of all ties to their world, the prisoners redefine their concepts of order and human nature. In order to survive the men resort to murder and cannibalism. How do they reconcile rank, faith and dignity? Powerful, thought-provoking and darkly funny, The Curing Room by David Ian Lee and directed by Joao de Sousa is a bold, shocking thriller based on true events.

little bit of mass
Synopsis:
ForePlay is Flux Theatre Ensemble's annual exploratory staged reading series where playwrights riff on the themes of Flux's main production. Human 2.0 riffed on August Schulenburg's play about the next step in human evolution, DEINDE. Over three nights, Flux presented short plays by 14 playwrights imagining what various human senses will look like in the future. What if we had the capacity to smell like a dog? Use radar like a bat? See all the colors of the electromagnetic spectrum? How will we upgrade our sense of beauty and justice? What will happen when we truly have unlimited memory? All of these short plays explore what it means to be human in an era of rapid technological change.

Sleeper
Synopsis:
Sleeper tells the story of an American doctor abducted from an NGO building project on the Pakistani border; a widow's journey from indifference to activism; the rising star of a vociferous right-wing pundit prior to the invasion of Iraq; and an afghani translator forced into an impossible situation. Sleeper explores the cultural divide separating 2003 and 2008, the virtual war that has exploded between dogma and reason, and the dangers of apathy and ignorance, be they found in our foreign policy or our most intimate relationships
