Dream Street
Synopsis:
South Street, right here in Glens Falls, is the setting for his highly anticipated playone of the first pieces commissioned by our new aTF Founder's Fund for New Work. Based on interviews with residents, business owners, community leaders and others with intimate knowledge of the area, the play takes a fresh look at the past, present and future of the historic street. Since the late 18th century, South Street has been the home of bars, gambling, restaurants and entertainment of all kinds. It was a stop on the vaudeville circuit and a site for the storage of Canadian whiskey on its way to New York City during Prohibition. Today, South Street continues to evolve, with development efforts that some say threaten its very character.

Killadelphia
Synopsis:
Commissioned by the Mural Arts Project of Philadelphia and Interact theatre, Killadelphiais the latest work from award-winning playwright and solo performer Sean Christopher Lewis. In the summer of 2008, the city of Philadelphia was in the midst of a murder epidemic on par with those of some third world countries. InKilladelphia, Lewis takes an unflinching look at the causes of the increased crime rate and the effect on the community. Using hip hop and documentary theatre techniques, he interweaves the story of murdered teaching fellow Beau Zabel with interviews from inmates at Graterford Prison employed to beautify the city with more than 3,000 murals while serving out life sentences.

Militant Language: A Play With Sand
Set in modern Iraq, this savage contemporary fable ignites when a pair of American soldiers return from a routine surveillance detail covered in blood. the barracks are no safe haven. the Captain fights to control his troops as they walk the high-wires of a secret homosexual affair, the sexual abuse of a female soldier, a missing Iraqi boy, and a baby found in the desert, ala Moses. This play explores how violence begets violence, lies beget lies, truth is born from trust, and understanding war makes as much sense as sand raining from the heavens.
