Sonia Likhari took a sabbatical from her full time legal practice in 2004 to focus on a writing and performance career. Acting experience includes Chopra Town (BBC/Hat Trick) and The Trouble With Asian Men (Tamasha, Soho Theatre and tour). Behna (Sisters) her first play was developed with Kali and originally performed at Soho Theatre as a workshop production. In 2010 Behna was presented as a site-specific co-production between Kali, Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Black Country Touring. Sonia spent a year with Tamasha as Artist in Residence during which time she wrote a new play Eyrie. Set in 1984 against the background of Operation Bluestar this play is still in development. She has written a number of episodes for BBC Asian Networks Silver Street, an episode of the new childrens' programme 'Planet Ajay' (Foundation TV/CBBC) and co-wrote with Rifco Arts Wheres My Desi Soulmate? She is currently under commission by the REP and Kali to write a new play Bazaar.
