Between the Thinks Bubble and the Speech Balloon
Synopsis:
Mark finally knows what he wants to do with his life. He is a writer, he's committed, (mibbe he should be committed?) he's sure he's Got Something To Say. He's just not sure about this pricey poncey Creative Writing Course. Would rather use his fertile imagination to get inside the heads of various characters he sees around him. To tell their stories in their own -- or is it his own -- voices?

Edwin Morgan's Dreams - And Other Nightmares
Synopsis:
edwin Morgans last room in a nursing home in the West end of Glasgow. everythings reduced to the barest essentials of just a bed, a wheelchair and a desk: Do you ever wonder whether a person could lead two utterly different lives without either self being aware of the other? On a dark ordinary Friday afternoon in winter, middle-aged James, the poets biographer, his friend and helper, there to do routine admin with the frail eightyseven-year old, hears this urgent question from a deeply disturbed Morgan. Who then recounts a series of vivid dreams nightmares which have been afflicting him. Images, poems, remembered lovers, regrets, rough trade, propositions accepted or propositions avoided, truths, desires, lives, surround this bed, a Secret Gay History of Glasgow. and James, the listener, is disturbed too, stuck there like a reluctant interpreter/psychiatrist/amateur Freudian, trapped in his task. . .

Not Changed
Synopsis:
Imagine that there are two half-hour shows, one played out in the Ladies toilet, the other in the Gents. Imagine that each show consists of four five-minute monologues, written and performed by some of the finest theatre artists in Scotland. and then imagine that you experience each of these snippets alone, face to face with a single actor, either in a toilet cubicle, or somewhere around the wash-basins. This is the arches 15th anniversary show Spend a Penny; and it makes an extraordinary, intense and challenging 21st-century theatre experience, sometimes as rich and intimate as a private moment with a sister or best friend, sometimes as grotesque and vivid as a trip to the underworld, in a painting by Brueghel or Bosch.

Synopsis:
Liz Lochhead's interpretation of the Moliere classic goes much further than just translation. Steeped in everyday and proverbial Scottish rhythms, the action is translated to modern day edinburgh. and in Lochhead's new creation, the masterpiece retains its classical basis and black comedy whilst retrieving the explicit political satire which bland english translations have long since eradicated.

Thon Man Moliere 'or Whit got him intae aw that bother. . .'
Synopsis:
Welcome to Paris at the time of Louis XIV. Come backstage and meet the King's theatre company - a troupe of, grande dames, old hams, ingénue's and of course, their leading man. Right at the centre, author of their dramas and cause of all their troubles - Thon Man Moliere. In constant threat of debtor's prison, in big bother with church and state and - worst of all - disastrously in love with the wrong wife, Jean-Baptiste Poquelin de Moliere writes brilliant comedies inspired by a desperate life. But telling the truth is a dangerous business and getting his latest drama on stage could be the death of him! Thon Man Moliere is a brand new original play about the great theatrical comedian Moliere; his scandalous marriage, his scurrilous plays and the irresistible creation of his infamous and celebrated satire Tartuffe.

What Goes Around
Synopsis:
It's been day one of rehearsals of La Ronde, that sophisticated, worldly, once-forbidden hundred-year-old classic, oft called 'a sexual daisy chain'. An actor and an actress, strangers till this morning, sit down together for a drink to break the ice. One thing leads to another. . .Sex? The most fun you can have without laughing. Well, when it comes to human beings, you've got to laugh. Two actors play seven characters in this sparkling contemporary sex comedy. A game of consequences and connections, a riff on modern mores and manners that'll entertain and make you think. Before you make that move? Aye mibbe!
Notes:
Adapted by Liz Lochhead from Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde.
