King's Mare, The

Synopsis:
Henry 8th has had Anne Boleyn beheaded and has vowed to give up marriage. His courtiers want him to marry again. Hans Holbein is sent around Europe painting eligible princesses. The courtiers choose Anne of Cleves and persuade Henry to marry her. Henry is appalled when he sees Anne and wants to send her back but is persuaded to go through with the marriage. The wedding night is a disaster Anne can only speak Flemish and Henry can only speak English. A courtier who can speak both is sent for. Anne is annoyed that she is now sharing the bed with two men. She talks at length about heraldry, then the three of them play cards. Anne is divorced and she goes to live in a country estate with the translator
