Ballroom, The
Synopsis:
When a young boy takes refuge in the Ballroom he thinks he is alone. . . . .the Ballroom, is written and directed by Gaynor Lougher and features the huge ensemble of performers from Odyssey, 17 music students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and pupils and staff from Meadowbank School in Cardiff. 'For many people who have followed and supported Odyssey theatre over the years, Christmas begins with the Odyssey Christmas Show,' says Lougher. 'This year's production has been quite unique in that the idea has involved the whole cast contributing and developing ideas and creating imaginative stories - that is more than 55 people, from all walks of life, of different abilities, and whose ages range from eight to 70 years of age. the Ballroom revolves around the notion of story-telling. the concept of telling and re-telling stories is an ancient tradition and Odyssey have adapted this tradition to create their new piece of theatre. the play begins with a boy who has somehow got trapped in a ballroom and he is told different stories during his entrapment.. Lougher says, 'all of the stories have come from each of us sharing our own personal experiences, telling anecdotes which have changed and become embellished as they are re-told.'

Silent Night
Synopsis:
It's nearing Christmas in Cardiff and it's time for the wonderful Odyssey theatre once more. the production, with its bright red costumes and multi coloured stained glass church windows and with the high spirited adventure they invited us to share with them, was a huge animated early Christmas card. Once again it was a great romp but this time writer and director Gaynor Lougher had given her dynamic cast a clear story line for them all to get to grips with and get to grips with it they did - with great aplomb and considerable accomplishment.
