Dust

Synopsis:
In the aftermath of tragedy six abandoned children must navigate their way through rubble and dust in order todecipher their pasts and reveal their future. Tenement Street Workshop is an ambitious young arts organization whose membership is comprised of young adults known as "Millennials" or the "9/11 Generation". Much has been written in the press about how the War on Terror has affected this generation. We're sure to see many more articles as we approach the 10th anniversary of 9/11, but few, if any, will be written by members of the generation itself. Dust addresses this issue from the perspective of children living in an abandoned courthouse in lower Manhattan who must quickly grow up and confront the people responsible for all the "rubble and dust." We live in a time when economic, social, and political forces are constantly changing, and the outlook for this generation appearing ever more bleak. Dust is meant not only to give voice to the "9/11 Generation," but also to spark a conversation across generational divides about the immediate and long term effects of terrorism and tragedy. It is important to hear the voices that will soon have to clean this mess up.
