Josh MacDonald is a writer and actor living in Dartmouth, N.S.-his plays include Degrees, Whereverville & Halo. Degrees was produced by Festival antigonish and is the winner of prizes from the Canadian One-act Playwriting Competition & the Writersı Federation of N.S.. Degrees was also turned into an award-winning short film which played at festivals across the country. Whereverville was produced by Two Planks and a Passion Theatre while Josh was the companyıs Writer-In-Residence-Whereverville was shortlisted for the NaCıs ³On the Verge² Festival and is published by Talonbooks. the play Halo was also commissioned & produced by Two Planks, touring the country twice and twice nominated for Best Play at the NSPTa Merritt awards. also published by Talon, Halo has since been produced by numerous companies across Canada and is in development with Telefilm as a feature-length movie. Josh recently optioned his screenplay the Corridor while another script, Over Under Through, was a recent finalist at the Canadian Screenwriting awards. Joshıs short films include Dealer, Ties that Bind (Yorkton Festival nominee), and Deadlines, all of which have played festivals and television. Josh has written short Drama for CBC National Radio and is the playwriting instructor at Dalhousie University.

Synopsis:
Four teenaged boys prowl the perimeter of the their small town late one night in a stolen car. Frusterated and bored, their actions descend into easy violence- the consequences of which one of them will never forget. Degrees is a multi-character piece for a solo actor.

Halo

Halo
When the image of Jesus Christ appears on the donut shop where she works, teenaged Casey's life is forever changed. Yearning to escape from the hopeless, pious boondock which she calls home, Casey tries to "spin" the Jesus apparition towards her own fortune, fame and farewell. During the week leading up to Christmas Day, Casey becomes the ringmaster of a growing faith-circus. . . a circus rapidly spinning out of control.

Whereverville
Whereverville is a life-or-death grudge match for the future of Loam Bay, Newfoundland- a tiny outport community facing government resettlement in 1969. abbey Shea, the local schoolteacher, finds herself fighting an emotional battle for the survival of "home".
