Doon is a multi-award winning actress and comedienne, renowned for her work in radio, theatre and tv. As a writer she has contributed material to satirical comedy shows, THE DAY TODAY, DOON YOUR WAY (radio), KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU WITH ALAN PARTRIDGE, GLAM METAL DETECTIVES and 23 episodes of BAFTA winning sit-com, SMACK THE PONY. Her original stage shows include an updated version of Jane Austens EMMA, co-written with Martin Millar, which played at the Edinburgh Festival in 1999 and more recently her one-woman show PRIMA DOONA which sold out at Edinburgh in 2010, winning a Fringe First. Currently in development, she has teamed up again with Sally Phillips and Fiona Allen for new sit-com STICK OR TWIST, first script commissioned by Tiger/BBC and original sitcom ANGELL TOWN to be written by and star Doon has been picked up for development by DLT.

Primadoona

Synopsis:
Primadoona is a true story of a time when life was turned upside down. Written and performed by Doon Mackichan its a roller coaster ride from the heights of celebrity to the depths of despair. Primadoona is a frantic and hilariously brave physical performance that charts the depths of three dark, painful and miraculous years in Mackichans life. The production was awarded a coveted Scotsman Fringe First accolade and played to packed out audiences for the entire run at the Gilded Balloon. This no-holds barred piece of comedy theatre shows the strength of a woman who is not scared to allow people to laugh at her nightmares.
