Can I Start Again Please         Come To Where I'm From         Dry Season, The         Sid and Valerie         Sid Lester's Big Night In         Still Life: An Audience With Henrietta Moraes

Can I Start Again Please

Can I Start Again Please
What can be said at all can be said clearly; and whereof one cannot speak thereof one must be silent - Wittgenstein Two languages, one signed and one spoken, coincide and collide in a new work by Sue MacLaine. Can I Start Again Please contemplates the capacity of language to represent traumatic experience, in particular childhood sexual violence. Made in response to the current landscape of revelation and disclosure, the work is both political and personal. Bells ring, hands fly, mouths speak. Eloquent silence, articulacy, disruption, interpretation, the abyss of memory, gaps, breaches, chasms attempt to comprehend that which is never fully grasped: the incomprehensible moment.

Still Life: An Audience With Henrietta Moraes

Synopsis:
Come and take part in an intimate life drawing performance. . .Your hostess is Henrietta Moraes - model and muse to Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud and uncrowned Bohemian Queen of the 1950s Soho set. Take a seat in the life drawing studio as Henrietta, with characteristic wit and candour, tells stories from her life and re-creates poses from her illustrious career. As she reminisces she will invite you to draw her; as the performance progresses the line between subject and object, artist and model, public and private, are blurred. Are her stories influencing your view of her, and therefore your drawing?
