Andri Snær Magnason is an Icelandic writer, born in Reykjavik. Andri has written novels, poetry, plays, short stories, essays and CDs. He is the co-director of the documentary film Dreamland. His work has been published or performed in more than 30 countries. His novels, LoveStar and The Story of the Blue Planet will be published in England by Seven Stories Press in November 2012. LoveStar was chosen as Novel of the year by Icelandic booksellers and The Story of the Blue Planet, was the first childrens book to receive the Icelandic Literary Prize and won the Janusz Korczak Honorary Award. It has been published in 26 countries. The play based on the story was performed on the main stage of YPT in Toronto in 2005 and will be performed again in 2013. The Blue Planet has also been staged in the Icelandic National Theatre, Vaasa and Lahti City Theatres in Finland and in the Stadstheater in Lucerne. Andri has written two plays with Thorleifur Arnarsson, Eternal Happiness and Eternal Misery, in 2007 and 2009. His other plays are Natures Opera with múm and Úlfhamssaga with Rejo Kela, Maria Ellingsen and Eivör Pálsdóttir. Andri has been active in the fight against the destruction of the Icelandic Highlands. His book  Dreamland  a Self Help Manual for a Frightened Nation has been published in English, Danish, German and Japanese and has become a feature length documentary film. Footage from Dreamland and an interview with Andri can be seen in Charles Fergusons Oscar winning documentary  Inside Job. Andri Magnason is the winner of the Kairos Award of 2010  granted by the Alfred Toepfer institute in Hamburg.
