Chef
A gripping story of how one woman went from a haute cuisine head chef to a convicted inmate running a prison kitchen. Sabrina Mahfouz's distinct, award-winning style and Jade Anouka's mesmerising performance make this an extraordinary new show. Leading us through her world of mouth-watering dishes and heartbreaking memories, Chef questions our attitudes to food, prisoners, violence, love and hope. Directed by Kirsty Patrick Ward and produced by POP, this show was made possible through a Sky Academy Arts Scholarship. A blistering way with language. . .this is how theatre can take you anywhere in your imagination' ***** (Herald on Clean).

Clean
play is a reaction to the gender-bias of computer games. As a result, we meet a contrasting trio of would-be superheroines, Zainab, Chloe and Katya, respectively played by Rosie Wyatt, Nadia Clifford and Chloe Massey. the first is a streetwise card cloner, the second a posh emerald smuggler and the last a Russian sex-supplier turned market manipulator. the lack of trust between the three is obvious when they sit apart in a swanky club but the owner has other ideas. Using blackmail and a little flattery, she brings them together for a Mission Impossible, with the prospect of saving the world some time soon.

Each year the National Theatre invites ten writers to create new plays for young people to perform. This spring 230 youth theatre companies will present the premieres of these plays in Venues from Scotland to Cornwall and Northern Ireland to Norfolk. Each company will also perform at one of 26 Connections festivals in professional theatres across the country, and ten companies will go on to perform at the National Theatre. Connections celebrates great new writing for the stage and the energy, commitment and talent of young theatre-makers.
