Play With Fire
Synopsis:
There were three Martin brothers. John was the most famous English painter of his day; Joshua burned down York Minster and spent the rest of his days in Bedlam; while William was merely a wild eccentric, dressed in a tortoise-shell hat, who not only claimed the world standing long jump record, but also that he had invented Davy's miner's safety lamp, a perpetual motion machine and almost every invention attributed to others. You can find out more about his extraordinary family in Play with Fire, a drama by me and Peter Hawkins, written in 1970. - paddy Masefield
