Weaving history with original text and movement, The Battle for Central Park explores the contradictory and captivating relationship of two public figures, theater producer Joseph Papp and NYC Parks Commissioner Robert Moses, both possessed by power and a love of New York City. The ideological zeal of Papp and the dominant structuralist power of Moses are brought to life on the stage through the expression of the human body. Equal parts memory play and historical drama, The Battle for Central Park tells the fascinating story of these two iconic and divisive men through a lens of imagination and wonder. This is urban sociology with a flare for the theatrical.
