Should We Stay Or Should We Go?
Synopsis:
Dear people in Wellington, We are Brad and Nancy from the Wellington Fringe Festival show Should We Stay Or Should We Go? Our theatre company is called Lo-Fi'. To be honest, we just can't be bothered with modern technology so we try to do everything in a basic, simple, lo-fi way. We have no blog, no website, we don't tweet'. Our sound design is music coming through an on-stage ghetto-blaster. Our lighting design has two states: lights on' and lights off'. Our set is hand-made. And our show? We are a real couple. Really we are. Engaged even. But as Brad is Kiwi and Nancyis English a disagreement has emerged. We can't agree on which country to live in. And we need Wellington's help. We'll tell our story, doggedly fight our corners and then the audience will vote: England or New Zealand. We're gonna lay all our cards on the table and let the audience play the game. This. Is. Real. A binding referendum so we can settle this once and for all. High stakes, high comedy, high energy - lo-fi.

Town Meeting, The
Synopsis:
Cap-a-Pie, in collaboration with Dr. Paul Cowie, Newcastle University, present a new piece theatre that places you at the centre of the problem and demands solutions. Your town is teetering on the brink. Imminent destruction looms. Homes, livelihoods and an entire way of life are at stake. There's only one thing for it: a Town Meeting. But we need help - your help! Time is running out to have your say. . . Voted the most picturesque town in Greater Doggerland for four years running, Little Rikjord instills a great sense of community and attachment in local residents. The town's economic prosperity owes much to the neighboring iron ore mine. However, the current seam has been exhausted and the Little Rikjord Iron Ore Mining Company is seeking permission to move Little Rikjord and begin mining directly under the town. On the eve of a crucial hearing, Little Rikjord residents gather in the community centre to plan their presentation to the Minister. Assisted only by shambolic Junior Planning Officer Benjamin Rennold, Little Rikjord's representatives must choose what is best for the future of their town. This play explores how communities react to external pressures and represent themselves. Rather than research participants the audience will be co-investigators. Dr. Paul Cowie will be making a written record of the performance but no personal information will be taken nor will anyone or their views be identifiable in the published research. There will be an opportunity to be credited as co-researchers.
