Paul McIntyre grew up in West Hobart and graduated from the Centre for Performing Arts at the University of Tasmania in 1994. Later that year Paul collaborated with friend and fellow graduate, James Haslem, to write and produce the play 'That Guy' which was awarded Best new Tasmanian Play of 1994 by ABC Radio and Mercury newspaper theatre critic, Wal Eastman. Following this success, the Tasmanian Fringe Festival produced a second season of the play. In 1999 Paul wrote and directed his first full-length play, 'shooting Cupid'. It was accepted into the Australian Script Centre catalogue and Paul was invited to join the ASC's reading advisory group. In 2008 Paul's third full length play, 'Who Knows' premiered in February 2009 at the Peacock Theatre in Hobart. It was later featured at the 2009 National Play Conference. 'Who Knows' was subsequently staged to sell out crowds in Launceston and Perth, Western Australia with further seasons confirmed for 2014 in Calgary, Canada and Sydney, Australia. Paul's latest work 'The Monster's Apprentice' was produced by Centrestage in Launceston in 2013. Since 1995, Paul has produced a variety of radio programs for ABC Local Radio in Tasmania including Statewide Mornings, Statewide Weekends with Chris Wisbey, Statewide Evenings with Michael Veitch and the Afternoon Show with Christopher Lawrence. He has also written scripts for ABC radio and television, including the ABC's flagship production 'Gardening Australia'. Paul is currently a Senior Producer for ABC Local Radio on the Statewide Evening show.
