The life of Kenneth Grahame author of "The Wind In The Willows" and his son Alistair - "Mouse". After the death of his mother Kenneth is sent to live with his uncle. When he is old enough the uncle refuses to pay for Kenneth to go to university and sends him to work at the Bank of England. He begins writing and gets married. Alistair is born but he has cataracts. Kenneth has high hopes for his son who is unable to live up to them
