Jadah Milroy is a Victorian College of the Arts and Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts graduate, and a proud Palku woman. She works as an artistic director, actor, playwright, dramaturge, animateur, director, tutor and event coordinator. Jadah has produced a series of short stories for Radio National's Awayeprogram and published articles in magazines Ignite and Spark. Her plays include: Jidja (Brisbane Festival 1998), musical drama The Promise (VCA 1998 and ANPC 2000), cross discipline Journey to Adolescence (Osaka and Los Angeles tour), The Sand Crab (Bayside Spring Festival), Touch the Air for Terrapin Puppetry Company and Crow Fire produced by Playbox and Ilbijerri. Crow Fire was shortlisted for the Malcolm Robertson Prize 2002, the Kate Challis Raka Award 2002 and the NSW Premier's Literary Award 2003. Jadah is an International Ensemble Member of 'Full Circle' Native Performance Company in Vancouver, Canada and is an experienced ensemble trainer in theatremaking. She has worked widely as co-devisor, animateur and dramaturge and worked with Melbourne Workers Theatre onScratchin, a hip hop musical. She also underwent professional development and research into Aboriginal methodology of performance and dramaturgy with Canadian companies Takwakin and Full Circle.

Promise, The

Synopsis:
Vikala's husband died three years ago and for three years she has remained pregnant. Faced with the choice of spiritual and physical death if she will not confront her fears or the promise of life if she will, Vikala embarks on a journey into the anarchic and contradictory world of her psyche, accompanied by the ever-watching Nightbird.
