Mind the Gap is England's largest learning disability theatre company that creates work for UK and international audiences. It was formed in 1988 by former Artistic Director Tim Wheeler and Susan Brown and is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The company exists to make great theatre that makes audiences think differently. Mind the Gap brings together learning disabled and non-disabled artists so that they can share and exchange ideas, skills and experience. The talents of learning disabled artists are nurtured through formal training and live work experience. Through a partnership approach we create work for different audiences that is exciting, refreshing, sometimes a bit cheeky, and always original. By "theatre" we don't just mean shows that you can see in arts and theatre venues, but also performances and events in different spaces and places. Our work includes adaptations of classic texts like Of Mice & Men and Treasure Island, unique work like Jez Colborne's Irresistible, and unusual events for outside spaces like Immovable. The Mind the Gap team includes a Board of Trustees, staff members who do different jobs, the core team of Acting Company members and Ambassadors, students and company members involved in training activities, and volunteers.

Durang Durang
Synopsis:
Mind the Gap Theatre presents an evening of surreal comic works by the acclaimed contemporary playwright Christopher Durang, whose award-winning plays have been a feature both on and off Broadway since his first piece The Idiots Karamazov was produced in 1974. Still a hugely successful playwright today, his 2009 work Why Torture is Wrong and The People Who Love Them received critical acclaim following its recent performance at the Public Theatre in New York. Durang Durang is brought to the UK by Mind The Gap Theatre Company, who have taken the show to London direct from a successful run at the Gilded Balloon at the Edinburgh festival 2009. The company specialise in bringing the best new British drama to New York City, and include Dame Judi Dench and Dame Helen Mirren among the companys board of advisors. This production sees Mind The Gap complete their aspiration to bring a New York production to the UK, taking the play from off-broadway to off-west-end in a production of the text never before seen in London.

Pygmalion
Synopsis:
Shaw's dramatisation of a Cockney flower girl's metamorphosis into a lady is not only a delightful fantasy but also has much to say about social class, money, spiritual freedom and womens' independence. Its combination of ideas and social comment, together with its rich comic characterization, make it one of the most enduring and entertaining of English comedies. Henry Higgins, Professor of Linguistics and confirmed bachelor, wagers that within six months he will transform flower seller, Eliza Doolittle, into a lady who can take her place in high society. Shaw's masterpiece is both brilliantly funny and a devastating critique of the English class system. This play formed the basis of "My Fair Lady".
