Emerald City
Synopsis:
Four women have a love/hate relationship with the city of Seattle. Each is looking for something, in this urban tale lightly inspired by the Wizard of Oz: Dot owns a home she inherited from her aunt and uncle, but she questions its value in a rapidly changing landscape and market; Scarlett is writing a dissertation on Duwamish folk tales when she makes a startling discovery about the house her friend Tina is renting from Dot; Tina yearns for the love of a man she's been stalking for years; all of her jobs are excuses to remain in her adopted city, so she can be near a man who doesn't want her; Lillian is trying to overcome her crippling fear of being alone while her lover Scarlett is away.

Feasting
Synopsis:
Don't try this without a university theater department at your disposal. You need at least 12 performers, an inventive scenic designer, costume designer and a choreographer. The script calls for several Rat Dances. The climactic moment requires a gigantic rat, or some combination of rat sounds and effects to suggest a gigantic rat. Someone told me this play was about nature being better than industrialization. I hope not. For me, the terrifying moments of this colorful, grimy fairy tale are those in which nature reigns, merciless and mindlessly self-serving. A couple of artists were generous enough to choose me for a playwriting fellowship from the NEA, thanks to Feasting. It's a strange and as yet untapped play, as mysterious to me as it is to friends who have read it.

La Valse
Synopsis:
A famous Catholic poet envies his bohemian sister's freedom and considers her habits a sign of instability. Ultimately he has her committed to an asylum, where she spends the last years of her life. Now facing his own mortality and trapped in an imaginary purgatory, the elderly poet reviews and relives the past to satisfy an unseen counsel. But however he tries, he is unable to admit his betrayal. The poet's story is a world swept together out of memory, gossip, wishful thinking, and cross-referenced scenes from his stage work and his sister's passionate life. The play's structure imitates the shape of Camille Claudel's sculpture La Valse.

my new friends (are so much better than you)
Synopsis:
This solo piece, performed by Morgan Rowe in 2008 and 2009, was inspired by several true stories of social networking and cyber-bullying, combined with observations of online relationships. The script is a series of monologues, sometimes funny and sometimes harrowing, alternating between two characters: Nancy is an outgoing, witty, worldly person who is popular but who reserves the right to define herself on her own terms. Gwen is a woman who has not quite found herself in her career or in motherhood. Between these former friends stands the memory of a teenage girl whose attempt at making friends online ended in tragedy. But that is not the end of the story. . .
Notes:
he piece may be performed by two Actresses, but the play's questions About identity Are enhanced by having one Actress play both women, Alternating without change of makeup or costume, in very simple transitions.

Walking the Walls
Synopsis:
The Stranger critic called the play a Southwestern Odyssey. Two loners decide to travel together for a while: Leona is looking for a perfect spot to scatter the ashes of the father she betrayed years ago in a case of fake repressed memory. Ex-con Lloyd is staying one step ahead of the law, indulging in his passion for the poetry of Rod McKuen, "the only poet who ever made real money," and strangling people who irritate him. From Montezuma Castle to Arcosanti, Lloyd and Leona make their way along the backside of the American Dream.
