Anna Moench's full length plays include Hunger, In Quietness (Ensemble Studio Theatre), Great Eastern, and The Pillow Book (59E59). Other productions of Ms. Moench's work have been seen at the Old Vic, The Flea, Dance Theater Workshop, Dixon Place, The Kraine, The Looking Glass Theatre, and FringeNYC. Awards include the Lark Play Development Center's 2012 Van Lier Playwriting Fellowship, the Jerome Foundation's 2009 Travel Grant, the 2010 T.S. Eliot Exchange with the Old Vic, and the Tennessee Williams Scholarship at the Sewanee Writers' Conference. Ms. Moench is a two-time recipient of the EST/Sloan Commission and has received commissions from NYU Tisch's Graduate Acting Program, Red Fern Theater Company, and Haggard Middle School in Plano, Texas. She has been a writer in residence at Baltimore Center Stage, the Tofte Lake Center, the Vineyard Arts Project, and the FAR Space. Memberships include the 2011 Emerging Writers Group at The Public Theater, Youngblood at Ensemble Studio Theatre and New Georges' writer-director lab, The Jam (2010), where she is now an Affiliated Artist. B.A. Wesleyan University.

the Death of the Ball Turret Gunner follows Randall, a ball turret gunner on his final mission. As bombs shudder the plane and fear grips the crew, reality bleeds into a distorted nightmare. Set on a B-17 bomber in flight over Germany and inspired by Randall Jarrell's classic poem, an archetypal war narrative takes a magical realist turn to examine the personal impact of institutionalized violence. This piece features strong visual and movement elements alongside an original score performed live by a seven piece orchestral/rock hybrid ensemble, taking the audience into one of WWII's most unforgettable battles.
