Glenn is a two-time kidney transplant patient. He received the first in 1993 and his second, from his father, in early 2006. He has also suffered from Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma, undergoing 6 months of chemotherapy, and spent 1½ years on haemodialysis before his second transplant. He has written two plays, Better (2006) and Afterwards (2007), which deal with the subject of transplantation and he co-wrote Heads (with Simon Lys), a solo show about his cancer, which he performed at the Young Vic Studio in 2002.
