Sir Roger Ackroyd has wished to be married to widow Ashley Ferrars. She said that she must wait until the end of her mourning for her husband. Three months after the end of her mourning period she confesses to Sir Roger that she poisoned her brutal husband and that she is being blackmailed. Unable to cope anymore she kills herself - but sends a letter to Sir Roger that states who the blackmailer is. Sir Roger does not look at the letter when it arrives as it is time to eat. Later Ackroyd goes to his study. He is heard talking to an unknown person saying that he will not give them any money. In the morning he is found dead - stabbed through the neck. Luckily Hercule Poirot is staying in the village

Notes:
Based on the book "the Murder of Roger Ackroyd" by Agatha Christie. the first time one of her books had been Adapted for the stage. It starred Charles Laughton As Hercule Poirot. Retitled for Broadway run As "the Fatal Alibi"
