Actor, writer, director, composer and musician Stefo Nantsou has worked with a number of Australian Theatre companies, including Freewheels Theatre, Sidetrack Theatre and the Torch Project, specialising in Theatre for young people. He founded Zeal Theatre in the late 1980s, and this company has presented plays in most major children's festivals in Australia and around the world since, as well as touring shows to schools and running workshops with students and youth Arts companies. Though only one of his plays has been officially published, by 2006 Stefo Nantsou had written or co-written over 35 plays, directed more than 65 productions and performed in well over 80 productions. the most successful of his unpublished plays has been 'the Stones' (1996), based on a true story about two boys who kill a motorist after throwing rocks from a freeway overpass. Up to 2006 it had been performed over 900 times in Australia, Europe, Asia and North America. This play has been translated into Dutch, Welsh, Hungarian, Danish and German. Also by this time Nantsou's Zeal Theatre had received five Newcastle CONDA Awards (1989-2005), a New South Wales Frater Award (1997), a Best New Work Award for TheatreHaus (2002), the Critics Choice Prize in Budapest (2003) and the International ASSITEJ Honorary President's Award for outstanding services to Theatre for young people in Montreal (2005).

Forwards, The

After researching for over a year with drug users, dealers and welfare workers, Zeal premiered "FIXIN BART & MAGGIE" in April 1998 as a high schools touring show. about a boy who will not sit down. Oli refuses to listen to his parents, fails to settle in class and drives everyone from his martial Arts master to his brother and sister to exasperation. After an explosive altercation, Oli is taken to a specialist who prescribes - medication. the medication works, but then the side effects begin.
