Hewin' Goals

Synopsis:
This brand new production from Backscratch Theatre will fly you from Bishop Auckland to Barcelona, from Willington to London, from Crook to Peru; it will take you from the cold winters of Northern League football to the shiny-shoe sophistication of the men with the money; it will bring you nail-biting drama, comedy and songs. All this to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Northern League, the second oldest football league in the world, a league with teams and players that belonged to their communities and were proud to do so. More than a story of football, this is a story of families, neighbours, friends and enemies all with dreams, hopes and fears. It is a story of knowing who you are and its importance in a changing world. So what is the link between Crook and Peru? You'll have to see it, won't you?

Hit, The

Synopsis:
Ah! The English country pub, a haven from the pressures of the modern world. As the juke-box plays Pink Floyd's "Be Careful With That Axe, Eugene", the stranger walks in. An innocent bystander seeking shelter for the night. How little does our guest know what awaits. The Hit is a comedy of mistaken identity, which takes its audience down more twists and turns than an English country lane.

Top Banana

Synopsis:
Murray is the leader of a north of England council - a town fallen on hard times. New Labour apparatchiks dangle the prospect of a partnership with big business to bring prosperity and personal power. David Napthine's biting play brings a fresh slant to the Faust legend, as the fat cats seek Murray's soul in exchange for the fulfillment of a politician's wildest dreams. A satire on politics, New Labour-style.
