Telling Lives

Synopsis:
In 1914, Prestwich County Asylum held 3,000 patients. It provided real care for the mentally ill. In Brechtian style, with songs, dance and Drama Telling Lives presents the stories of patients, doctors, nurses; of the mad ideas and hopes they shared, before the First World War shattered more than illusions.

Transit of Venus, The

Synopsis:
1639, two young Astronomers, William Crabtree of Salford, Jeremiah Horrocks of Toxteth, realise therell be a transit of Venus. theyll be the first people to see it. But, Civil War looms. Love, science and religion form an explosive mix. Can reason triumph over superstition? Is kindness more enduring than hatred?
