Touch Of Rose Madder, A

Synopsis:
Rose is sent home after a spell in hospital and has a home help. Her regular helper is replaced by Leslie and Rose is not too happy about the fact that it is a young man who has been sent to look after her. She tells Leslie that she will not be needing him in the future. Her son, Danny arrives from Birmingham - he is concerned about his mother but can only come occasionally due to distance and work commitments. He persuades his mother to allow Leslie to come again and gives him a key. Danny stays the night and tells his mother that is firm is relocating to Glasgow. She will not go with him and refuses to be put in a home. Next day when Leslie arrives he is wounded - having been knocked off his bicycle by a lorry. Once he has cleaned himself up Rose offers him a brandy - he refuses to drink it - telling Rose he is a recovering alcoholic and it was through drinking he lost his wife and job as a nurse. Rose invites Leslie to move in. He sets about decorating what will be his room. Whilst looking for tools in the shed he finds a hidden wallet stuffed with money. He gives it to Rose who tells him her late husband was always hiding money. Some time later Rose dies and Danny is clearing up his mother's home. He tells Leslie that he will be leaving her clock behind as it has not worked in years. As he is leaving Leslie tells him that the clock may be valuable. Danny opens the clock and finds it too is stuffed with money.
