Seamus O'Kelly

SEAMUS O'KELLY  (1881 - 1918)

Nationality:    Irish
email:    n/a     Website:    n/a

Literary Agent:    n/a

Seamus O'Kelly started work as a journalist but he suffered heart damage and had to curtail his activities. He became the editor of "Nationality" the Sinn Fein newspaper; wrote a large number of short stories and plays. British soldiers riotously marked the 1914 armistice broke into the Sinn Fein premises at Harcourt Street Dublin where O'Kelly was working into the night as a newspaper editor. All the accounts indicate that O'Kelly was upset by their aggression and he suffered a heart attack. He never recovered and died three days later. He was known to have had a weak constitution and had been dogged by ill health. (thanks to Liam Kenny for the later information)
