Ruth Ellis Show, The

Synopsis:
The sleazy social world of London in the early nineteen fifties is evoked in epic, surrealist, theatrical style. The spiritual trajectory of Ruth's life is traced as she remembers, misremembers and re-imagines her predicament moments before she is due to be hanged for murder in 1955

Notes:
Nine actors are needed to play the parts, including that of Andre, Ruth's ten year old son. That is, three female actors, six male actors, although the final arrangement is up to the director. In the Goldsmiths performance, the part of Andre was played successfully by a female actor. One of the female parts, that of Ruth 2, Ruth's real self, is danced rather than spoken. Directed by Jack Paterson with Katie Turner as Ruth Ellis.
