Cancer Time

Synopsis:
Gary Owen's two-hander is a strange little number, charting the unlikely friendship of two young women doing jobs they hate in a Welsh call centre. Relief comes in the regular fag breaks, during which they sit outside and watch the skateboarders, contemplate genocide as a form of aerobic workout, consider aesthetics and the Welsh language, and wait to get cancer. Only life has a habit of springing little surprises that often turn out to be nasty even when they come wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon. Like sushi or hazelnut yoghurt, Owen's play is something of an acquired taste. Initially it seems stilted and contrived, but as the young women begin to break down the barriers that surround them, what emerges is an unspoken but deeply felt relationship, something fragile and yet solid, in a world of piss and puke, uncertainty and terror. - Guardian

Drowned World, The
And that is why we can't have these/Fatally radiant creatures/Walking round the place/Reminding us how clumsy/And mean-spirited/And graceless/And cowardly/And shapeless/And flabby and foul we all are.
In a drowned world - how far will you go to save your own skin? In this vicious tale of love, revolt and beauty, Gary Owen presents a vision of a world divided between citizens and non-citizens, where friends betray one another and where surfaces matter more than love or kinship.

Iphigenia in Splott

Iphigenia in Splott
What gets me through is knowing I took this pain, and saved all of you from suffering the same. Stumbling down Clifton Street at 11:30am drunk, Effie is the kind of girl you'd avoid eye contact with, silently passing judgement. We think we know her, but we don't know the half of it. Effie's life spirals through a mess of drink, drugs and drama every night, and a hangover worse than death the next day - till one night gives her the chance to be something more. Gary Owen's powerful new adaptation of the enduring Greek myth drives home the high price people pay for society's shortcomings.

Killology

Killology
In Killology, players are rewarded for torturing victims, scoring points for "creativity". But Killology isn't sick. In fact it's marketed by its millionaire creator as a deeply moral experience. Because yes, you can live out your darkest fantasies, but you don't escape their consequences. Out on the streets, not everybody agrees with him. "There is an instinctive revulsion against taking a human life. And that revulsion can be conquered."

Mrs Reynolds And the Ruffian

Mrs Reynolds And the Ruffian
Mrs Reynolds, is a "little old lady" and Jay, a troubled youth caught vandalising her garden. As 'community payback' Jay is sent back to help Mrs Reynolds fix the damage he caused. At first glance this is a simple tale of two generations locked in battle, Mrs Reynolds standing up for traditional values with her "nice little house, nice little garden and nice little life" vs Jay, the textbook chain-smoking hoodie prowling the urban jungle demanding respect but offering little in return. But there is more to these characters than the other suspects. Just as they think they have the measure of each other something is revealed and they are shocked by what they find out Mrs Reynolds and the Ruffian explores human nature and friendship alongside the social climate of modern Britain giving a warm, funny and wise glimpse into the way we live now.

Synopsis:
It's about a bunch of young people. some of them are too young to legally watch the Matrix Reloaded. Some of them are too young to vote. Some of them are too young to have fought in the Second World War. All of them are too young to die. This will probably not save them. They spend a lot of time in the same small space. Some are willing to pay if you'll do what they want. Some are going to be very angry if you don't give them what they are owed. Some of them secretly fancy your girlfriend. Some of them secretly fancy you. Some of them just want a small thing to remember you by, and are on the point of exploding if they can't get it. Some of them don't want anything, anything at all, except to be left to skate in peace. This last bunch, in particular, haven't got a hope in hell.
