the Paper Cinema perform a unique form of live animation and music. Founded in 2004 by Nicholas Rawling, with Imogen Charleston and Christopher Reed, they tour bespoke pieces around Britain and internationally. the company uses the language of animation, music, film and Theatre to lead the viewer through a variety of stories. Intricate pen and ink illustrations are manipulated in real-time in front of a live video camera and projected onto the big screen alongside the performed music, which is integral to the work.

Lost World, The

Synopsis:
This is a highly commissioned adaptation by the extraordinary and highly original Little Boat & the Paper Cinema. It explores Conan Doyle's the Lost World through puppetry and music. Hand-drawn marionettes are projected onto a white screen, and animated, to tell a fairytale-like version of the Lost World, accompanied by improvised live music by Little Boat. Four gentlemen set out on a head long journey across a continent searching for the existence of pre-historic life. One is journeying to prove his findings right; one to prove the other wrong; one to win the hand of his sweet heart and the last just for the adventure.
