Based on a true story. Milton Humason dropped out of eighth grade and went to California. He had various jobs and when he fell in love with Helen Dowd the daughter of one of the people building the Mount Wilson Observatory he got a job with the construction company to be near her. When the building was complete he stayed on as janitor. He became interested in astronomy and eventually was given a position as an observer and he assisted Edwin Hubble
