Final Word, The
This is a play based on the true story of the minister and the choir singer who were both found murdered during an illicit interlude under a crabapple tree in the playwright's hometown of Franklin Township, New Jersey in 1922. the play focuses on the suspicions that follows the minister's wife a Johnson and Johnson heiress and the press that haunts her as a bungled police investigation dog her every move and we are introduced to the star witness: the Pig Woman, the choir singer's "flapper" daughter and Casper Milquetoast husband who is a tyrant behind closed doors but a meek and mild man in public. the small town tapestry of characters are brought together by Joe a cub reporter who dutifully covers every detail of this bizarre yet amazingly true story of adultery and murder in 1922 New Jersey. This play has performed consistently to sold-out houses. It also brought about a demand for a sequel that was commissioned by Somerset County entitled the HALL-MILLS TRIAL, that was performed in the actual courthouse where the event took place. This script will be made available by next year and can be produced as a third act to this two act play. This is the critically acclaimed play now available for the first time in print!
