How to Kill a Cactus
Synopsis:
Cathy tries hard to fit in in the small Mississippi town where Paula, her partner, grew up, but the plants are too green and menacing -- especially a mystical old oak tree in their backyard. Focusing all of her loneliness and misery on the oak tree, she gladly cuts it down when it suddenly -- and suspiciously -- dies. But when the entire town starts to die, Cathy must sacrifice herself to atone for her mistakes, revive the town, and bring Paula back to her.

Lessons from Moonshine
Synopsis:
During Prohibition, the small convent that provides all of the social services for a small, rural town is staring bankruptcy in the face. Sister Joseph, who manages the convent's finances, agrees to a suggestion by Sister Rose, the youngest of the nuns, to earn money to pay their bills by running a still. Rationalizing this illegal plan as providing a much-needed alternative to deadly bootleg liquor, Sister Joseph commandeers the still from Sister Rose, and pushes it far beyond its capacity. A disastrous accident puts Sister Joseph in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she finally confesses to the younger nun her spiritual emptiness and her true reason for seeking wealth.
