JONATHAN PEREIRA is an actor, writer, and comedian originally from Chicago. Solo shows: American Cake (Audience Choice Award - Frigid Fest, NYIT Award nomination Outstanding Solo Performance), and Tastes Like Chicken, and 2012: an Apocalyptic Power Point Presentation. His solo shows, which he has performed throughout the US and Canada, seek to encourage discussion of socially sensitive, controversial, or otherwise awkward topics through satire. Plays include: Little Things, Death of a Government Worker (an adaptation of the short story by Chekov), Kingdom for a Horse, and Kid Surrender. As a comedian in Chicago, he was a long time improviser and wrote for numerous sketch comedy shows. He recently directed, hosted, and performed in the late night show Verbatim Verboten at the Workshop Theater. Jonathan has a BS in Geology and Spanish.

Kingdom For A Horse

Synopsis:
A once powerful man, now on trial, finds himself trapped in his own house with his keeper. Inspired by the arrangement that Bernie Madoff had in the lead up to his trial. To be able to make bail, Madoff agreed to pay for a security firm to "bail sit" for him. Since the judge considered him a flight risk, his movements were limited. This short play came about imagining how a once powerful man might interact with the captor he was paying to watch him.
