        Belgrade Trilogy

Belgrade Trilogy

Synopsis:
This is the U.S. and English-language premiere of Biljana Sbrljanovics acclaimed play Belgrade Trilogy. First performed in Belgrade in 1997 and set in Prague, Sydney, Los Angeles and Belgrade, Belgrade Trilogy is a dark comedy that centers on a group of young adults continually affected by the devastation of the Serbian culture and people in the post-war era. What happens when you are on the wrong side of a war? What happens when those closest to you are the ones who hurt you the most? And what happens when you hail from the social pariah of Europe? In this adaptation of Biljana Srbljanovics critically acclaimed dark comedy, we encounter a group of young Serbian adults who are spread across the globe and unwittingly tied to their countrys violent and war-torn past. In search of a better life, they all decided to leave their homeland and family behind, fleeing to the Czech Republic, Australia, and the United States. But for these naive and complex characters, the reality is, the grass isnt always greener on the other side and a troubled past will follow you anywhere.
