Michael Picardie was born in 1936 and brought up in JohAnnesburg . He now lives in Wales and works as an actor and Theatre writer. He worked as an academic and social worker in London , Oxford , Cardiff , JohAnnesburg and Botswana . His solo-performances of his play Shaloma (2003/4) were presented in Cardiff , Leeds, Nottingham and London . His psycho-Drama Shades of Brown Jannie Veldsman and His Struggle with the Boer was done in Cardiff (1978), JohAnnesburg (1978) London (1979), New York (1980), Cincinnati (1981), Scandinavia (1982), Cambridge (1982) and Exeter (1987), and elsewhere in Europe and Africa . the Cape Orchard (Foco Novo Theatre Co.) toured England and Wales and opened in London at the Young Vic in 1988 and was seen as Theatre writing anticipating the new South Africa, as was Jo'burg Messiah (Cardiff Sherman Theatre Company 1980.) these texts including a new play the Zulu and the Zeide (2003/4) - are available by post (see contact page). Ancestors And Diamonds
Synopsis:
Cecil Rhodes and Olive Schreiner meet in Rhodesia on the eve of the hanging of a spirit medium Ambuya Nehanda. Schreiner tries to stop the execution. Rhodes confesses to his servant John Grootboom that morally he is a disgrace to manking. the play looks forward to the transformation of Rhodesia into a new African state, Zimbabwe, which comes about with terrible consequences

Shaloma: My Palestine Your Israel
Synopsis:
A German officer has saved a Jewish woman from the massacre in Belarus of which he is actually in charge. He kills the Nazi militia which have conducted the murder of 1000 Jews, Tatars, homosexuals and the handicapped. He deserts with her to the Novabocki forest and they live there from 1941-1944. He refuses to go to Palestine with her where he and his parents have seen the alienation of Arab land by Zionist colonists in the 1930's. they remain in love.
