Alan Pollock is a playwright, translator and screenwriter. His plays include TOO MUCH PRESSURE, ONE NIGHT IN NOVEMBER (both commissioned and produced by Belgrade Theatre, Coventry - the latter having been produced there twice thus far), PIGS (Pentabus), SEVEN DEALS (commissioned by Hampstead Theatre/ nominated for a Corcadorca Play Festival Award), the DEATH OF COOL (commissioned and produced by Hampstead Theatre), WHAT DO I GET? (produced at Old Red Lion, London) and ALL TOMORROW's PARTIES (produced at Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester and Old Red Lion, London). In addition, he has translated Joel JouAnneau and Marie Claire Pavec's Mamie Ouate Papoasie as KADOUMA's ISLAND (Polka Theatre) and Raymond Cousse's Strategie Pour Deux Jambons as PIG PLAY (Traverse Theatre). He recently took part in Paines Plough's COME TO WHERE I'M FROM. For television, Alan wrote several episodes of the BILL for Talkback Thames, an episode of ALWAYS AND EVERYONE for Granada Television and an episode of ATTACHMENTS for World Productions, for whom he also wrote a short film, BLACK CAB. Alan's first play for radio, PHILIP AND SYDNEY was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2010. His latest radio play, EVERY DUCHESS IN ENGLAND was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 23 January 2013. Alan is currently working on a third commission for Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.

Too Much Pressure
Synopsis:
Coventry. 1979. A city of strife in the factories and violence on the streets. It's hard being 16 - but something's stirring in the garages and living rooms of the city. Music offers a way out for spiky Gary - a fish out of water on the Canley Park estate - posh boy Nick and cheeky Sonya, whose Asian parents think she's doing after-school Drama. . .Tension is building between Gary and his brother and Father - both track workers at the car plant.
