Dangerous Lady
Synopsis:
Following the fortunes of a London Irish gangland family, Dangerous Lady spans three decades from the 1950s to the 1980s. For seventeen-year-old Maura, life in London's underworld is just part of being a Ryan. At first she doesn't approve of her brother Michael's escalating criminal ambitions but after a devastating love affair destroys all hopes of a normal life, Maura decides to join the family business - and is ready to make her mark. No one thinks a young woman can take on the hard men of London's gangland, but it's a mistake to underestimate Maura Ryan. . .

Dick Whittington
Synopsis:
Pantomime about a boy and his cat who set off to London to make their fortune - usually with Dick's Brother (Idle Jack) and mother - there they usually meet Baron Fitzwarren and sail away to seek treasure. In some versions King Rat goes with them to steal the treasure, in others they reach a land infested with rats where they haven't heard of cats and Dick does a deal, returning home rich he becomes Lord Mayor of London. Based extremely loosely on a real person (Richard Whittington, 1350 to 1423), there is a statue of the cat outside the Whittington Hospital in North London where Dick is supposed to have heard the bells say "Turn again Whittington, Lord Mayor of London" as he trudged away from the city. First recorded panto on this theme was in 1814.

Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde, The
Synopsis:
As Jekyll and Hyde adaptations go, Patrick Prior's 70-minute two-hander is short, to the point and rewritten in brisk everyday language that sometimes sounds rough-and-ready. the company's regular acting team of Pat Abemethy (as Jekyll and Hyde) and Dave Marsden (as everyone else) ham it up in fine style on a simple Victorian desk-and-chair set, always preferring emphasis to subtlety. the result is a good, vivid, popular version of a great story, told with notable passion - as if, after 25 years of talking as though our "selfish genes" justified all our bad behaviour, we were finally making a serious effort to remoralise our inner lives and to take responsibility for restraining our more brutal impulses, whether they come "naturally" or not.
