Synopsis:
Joyseekers theatre brings Gorkys classic Russian play, the Lower Depths, to contemporary American audiences in this brand new adaptation by Australian playwright Tim Redmond. Set against the backdrop of 1930s Depression-era New York, Redmond draws startling parallels between pre-revolution Russia and a country quickly losing its grasp on the American Dream. When a stranger arrives in the midst of a ragged bunch of outcasts, spinning tales of hope and redemption, his beautiful lies soon begin to expose some dark and painful truths.
