Don Reed (HBO, SHOWTIME, TONIGHT SHOW) always dreamed of never becoming a comedian but being raised by a Jehovahs Witness and a pimp changed all that. His remarkable life stories fueled by his truly remarkable talent lead everyone to remember no matter how awkward you are no matter how much of an outsider Be yourself, simply be yourself. Which is oddly contradictory because Don can become anyone. This natural multi-hyphenate has a career that spans television, film and stage solo shows, standup and animation (Spiderman, The Flintstones, Captain Planet many more). But Don contends he really only does one thing entertain. Bob Read a producer at Chelsea Lately and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno has said, Anyone looking for the next - but exceptionally different Tyler Perry need look no further than Don Reed. Don, a San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Nominee and NAACP Double Nominee for Best Actor & Best Playwright, has performed, written and directed across all platforms. His work on an HBO Partners and Crime Special of up-and-coming comedians years ago caught the attention of Bill Cosby and led to many recurring and guest starring roles on television (Cosby Show, A Different World ). He has performed all over the country and parts of world. He has opened for Tony Award winner Broadway staple Tommy Tune and Headlined top clubs and over 300 colleges and universities. While writing and creative consulting on some half hour comedies -- Don wrote and directed several short films for HBO, once casting himself, inadvertently sparking the revival of his on camera career. His HBO shorts garnered the attention of Paramount who cast him as a series regular and writer on the sketch comedy show "Off Limits." His performances on that show caught the eyes of "MAD TV" executives who were producing NBC's "The RERUN Show" where he was cast as a series regular --giving him the freedom to jump back into the arms of his first love the stage. Don has since created a trilogy of critically acclaimed solo shows (East 14th, The Kipling Hotel, Can You Dig It?) and has performed stand up for The Tonight Show studio audience warm-up for over 1,000 episodes not to mention spots on Comedy Central, TV One, Comedy.TV .
