American Farce
Synopsis:
When a woman from Max's past shows up at his door and claims he's the father of her ten year old son, an avalanche of deception is triggered. Max is duped by a woman he barely remembers and the seemingly naive boy plays a role in the ruse. It isn't as if Max didn't have enough trouble with a notorious loan shark chasing him down for an unpaid loan, he now must deal with a mother and son team harboring unknown motives. In the midst of the turmoil, good fortune smiles on Max. He learns the boy has a knack for picking winners of sporting events, and for the down-on-his-luck gambler nothing could be more enticing. Max quickly crafts a scam of his own to turn the tables in his favor but discovers even the best laid plans rarely remain true to course. As family dynamics and Max's budding relationship with his alleged son is tested - greed, manipulation and lies are replaced with truth, clarity and commitment.
