Land of Make Believe, The
Synopsis:
Generation X proudly farewells the day predicted to end the world. A triumph for high-tops, shoulder-pads and MTV, the big, fluorescent glamour of the eighties doesn't have quite the same look in a small NZ city, where Carol-Ann dreams of a magical future beyond the limits of the Hutt VaIl In a different kind of overseas experience, Caro Ann searches for a father she has never known and in doing so journeys to herself. Full of delicious humour, rueful irony and an unashamed heart worn on its sleeve, The Land of Make Believe is almost like the girls' go at This Is Our Youth - the play cleverly captures that moment when adolescents find themseIve~ confused and incredulous on the threshold of adulthood

Synopsis:
Bob is a lonely Waikato dairy farmer. Five years ago his wife left him `for another bloke', taking the two teenage daughters with her. He is looking for a partner. Yulia is a solo mother living in a small apartment in Moscow. Desperate to rescue her son Dmitry from enlistment in the army and wanting a better life for her elderly mother Ludmila, she joins up with a `mail order' bride agency. Across the cultural and physical divide can companionship be found? Even Love? A moving, often funny and very human story.
