This play which was deemed by the adjudicators to be the best play in the drama competition at the Neath National Eisteddfod in 1934. It was condemned for its dubious 'morality' and because it besmirched the shining character of the collier. The play portrays the appalling consequences of the poverty of the depression on the population of the industrial valleys. Its message is as relevant today as it was in 1934
