Brief Period Of Time, A         Delusion Of Angels, The         Number Fourteen         Two Eggs Scrambled Soft

Brief Period Of Time, A

Synopsis:
The place is a small southern town which Candy left ten years earlier to go to college and then seek her fortune in the wider world; while Billy, her high-school sweetheart, stayed behind and went to work in the local sporting goods store. Now Candy is back, a young widow whose much older husband has left her well off financially, and Billy has stopped by, ostensibly to offer his condolences but, actually, to make an attempt to rekindle their old romance. The problem he encounters has to do with the time Candy came home on vacation from college and caught him fondling another girl-who has long since married someone else. But old memories rankle, and when Billy tries to arrange a date for the next night Cindy is less than compliant. However, as the play ends, the suggestion is strong that the good memories are beginning to overcome the bad and that they will soon be picking up where they left off all those many years before.

Delusion Of Angels, The

Synopsis:
Evan Buckman, an English Literature tutor has been asked to give a talk about "Wuthering Heights" before a showing of the Olivier film. He hates the book so asks his star pupil, Michael, to do it instead. Michael has been doing some part time teaching and a former pupil, Sharon, turns up at his apartment to ask for help in her current projects. They fall for each other and she moves in. Evan's partner, George is an artist as a tutor too. He has just sold a painting. Evan is not happy about this as it was his favourite - but he had never told George until now. George wants to go on an exotic holiday but Evan hates the idea. Evan tells George that he is infatuated with Michael. George tells him that if he manages to seduce Michael then to compensate him they will go on the holiday. George's star pupil is Sharon. George manages to get back the painting he sold and he invites Sharon over to help him hang it. Things are not going too well with Michael and Sharon and in a "Heathcliff" moment he forcefully has sex with her. Afterwards she makes an excuse to go and visit her parents who live out of town. Evan goes through Michael's speech and they agree on what to keep in and what to delete. Evan asks Michael if he has a suit to wear. Michael does, but Evan says he will provide the tie as he does not trust Michael's taste. Sharon arrives at Evan & George's apartment for the picture hanging. Both she and George get drunk and George makes a pass at her and she leaves. Evan presents Michael with the tie and makes a pass at Michael and he leaves. At the "Wuthering Heights" talk Michael turns up in jeans and t-shirt wearing the tie around his head. Evan is mortified. Michael makes an impassioned speech but Evan marches him off the stage before he can finish. Evan tells George that he did seduce Michael George tells Evan that he seduced Sharon. George and Evan go on their trip Michael arrives home and finds that Sharon has packed all her things and gone.

Two Eggs Scrambled Soft

Synopsis:
The scene is a coffee shop in the university town where Jeff and Meryl have been living together for two years. Both are graduates of the university, and while Jeff has been content to stay on and work for a local research organization, Meryl, who has just returned from two weeks in New York City, has decided to take a job in an advertising agency there, much to Jeff's alarm. As he tries to come to terms with her sudden defection, while also instructing their toothsome young waitress just how he likes his eggs and toast, Jeff begins to realize that what he has to offer doesn't quite stack up against the lure of the big city and Meryl's new (albeit important) boyfriend, an artist named Marshall. Even a proposal of marriage fails to turn the tide, but as they prepare to leave, a ray of hope appears as the waitress (who has seen to it that Jeff's eggs have been prepared exactly as he asked) lets it be known that she appreciates him even if Meryl doesn't, and perhaps he'll stop by again.
