KAREN ROBINET  (1960 - )

Nationality:    English, living in Canada

Literary Agent:    n/a

Karen Robinet is a reporter/photographer living in Chatham, Ontario, and while that's her day job, she's been involved in theatre since first tottering onstage in Grade 6 and succumbing to a rather severe case of stage fright. Since then, she's managed to get over that phobia, and has immersed herself in most aspects of community theatre, as well as writing reviews of a number of professional productions during her previous newspaper stint as an entertainment editor. Her experiences as a director, actor, stage manager, producer and numerous backstage efforts have given her everything needed to write about the trials of tribulations of community theatre. And, while she enjoys a good drama as much as anyone else, she also believes that laughter is indeed the best medicine and there are a lot of suffering people out there.

Caught In The Acts

Caught In The Acts

Synopsis:
The Primrose Players have never done Shakespeare before. Now we know why. When the local theatre group receives an arts council grant, it comes with a couple of strings attached. They must do a Shakespearean production, and accept the assistance of washed up director Tony Symington. Pete, the newly deposed president of the group isn't happy about this, or the fact that he lost the election by one vote to Liz, who has only been in the community for a couple of years, and has a secret in her past. When Tony, and his trusty sidekick Pip show up, the group decides to forge ahead with the production but it soon becomes painfully apparent just how ill-prepared they are for such a venture. Meanwhile, Pete and Max, the henpecked Christian in the group manage to jump to a couple of wrong conclusions about Tony and Pip and Dane, the techno-geek and eco-freak responsible for getting the grant in the first place, continues his campaign to convert everyone to environmental friendliness.
